This post is a cleaned up version from a prompt where we looked at a photo before we wrote. Mine was of a bearded man, stuck in a sand pit and he was made out of stone, forever posed in a motion where he is reaching for the sky. Enjoy.
And the Earth Shall Rumble Anew
"GARRRR!!! How DARE you! How DARE you!" I bellowed with the might of a bugle sounded at war.
"You deserve it!"
His whiny voice squeaking like wet sand.
slapping like a wet tunic against my face.
His cackling carrying over and around me and back again.
It enraged me.

If only, if only
if only I'd done a thousand reps with that prized bull yesterday,
if only i'd practiced leg lunges in sandy dunes
I would've been free!
but if onlys,
only
surrounded me.
only
surrounded me.
"Brother!" I roared.
"Not true!" He cackled. "Mother found you cut from the body of a trunk of a tree so large it would take more than three to wrap around. She rolled you in mud and formed you with the breath of crushed rocks and the gnashing sounds of gravel stones...and to that mud you shall return!!"
"This, coming from the man who was dropped by a white crane, on the morning of a third day, when crocodile kissed snake by happenstance?"
"Don't you talk about MOTHER that way! She was in love!" he screamed the scream of geese flying long into the night and it seemed to echo in the hushed wind.
Shhhhhh.....
"Love." I whispered, speaking to it to. "Love."
Shhhhh......
it embraced me,
quietly,
calmly,
continuing on.
"You speak of love, after throwing me in this pit?!" I roared and it was as if the whole world shuddered through me
"It should feel like coming home for you have returned to your true mother's womb!" His smile was sly like the first escaped fish, and eels slid out in pairs of twos between his teeth. "Tell me, oh mudded one, is it warm?"
"You do this cause she loves me best!!"
his face blank and barren, like earth before mother cared.
"Ha!" he covered it with the chuckles of marmots and nervous brooks, "Ha! Loves you best? I am the actual apple of her eye--"
"And the bane of Eve!"
"Take that back!"
And their cries continued, echoing on to form the first eruptions, the first thunderstorms, the first conflict, the first rage.
rage.
So much rage in her little ones.
Mother Earth shook her head and continued her survey around this land she'd come to claim as her own.
Obviously, she mused, they got it from their father.
