On My Way Home

A quick poem inspired by a Skazat Poetry Slam.

A perfect night,
Once threatening rain; no more.
Walking against the red,
A jaunt in my step.
Where are the fairies on the corner?
Their domain was once vast,
But now only vestiges remain.
Perhaps the cruel without imagination,
Tore them down.
Always a party here,
Lights and a whiff of cannabis.
Is it fair that ditch lilies are acceptable,
But wild weeds must be mown?
Now the fireflies come out,
Advertising phosphorescent sex,
While old women discuss doctors,
And broken bones.
Fading, already forgotten,
Will I remember this when I reach home?

Withered the Flame

Warning: Strong Language

Now comes Her hue and cry,
Change the tresses upon their sighing trestles.
Hark!
Matrimony of Mother Nature and Father
Time marred, malleable, molded so
The creeping chill heralds the new hue.
Hitherto emerald alas now the flames rage
Hew the tendrils and the sparks fall to
Wrap Her in their coat of embers.

The Affection of Love

A poem I found which I wrote in 2006Here's an idea of how my writing was back when I was a teen.

Why do feel this warm feeling
This small jolt in the stomach
Whenever
I see you
Is it a sickness?
No, it’s the effects of love

There is a difference between a "Pocket-watch" and a "Pocketwatch"

Warning: Strong Language, Mature Themes

I stumbled across a prompt online that I really, really like. (writingprompts.tumblr.com) The prompt was, "Convince me that the Universe wants to be noticed." I laughed. And then, wrote. This is a snippet, a sample from a five page prose. Enjoy! :)

If you dig into a pocket,

you may find a pocketwatch...
...or a cookie.
but that's another story.

because I dug into this pocket.
a...
faux pocket on the back of some blue jean jeggings.
a...
careless, nervous, airless gesture
a...
slip of the mind, the thumb, and BOOM.

a fake hole turned--

Follow the Butterflies

This is a poemory (it's like a poem but also a story but really, probably just a poem) in response to the prompt "But that was back when I gave a damn."

I used to smite.
I smote frequently, sent floods--
plagues and such.

I started Hell as a sort of
Retirement home for misguided souls,
a Landfill for sin.
And I laid out commandments--
corporate policy, if you will--
if you free will, am I right?
I am.
Always.

Tell Me, My Heart

This is from a writing prompt on Jan 14th 2014 titled "Write a summary of what you want to write."

Kana has always been the odd one of her class. Once social, but when at a young age, an incident happened which Kana was turned upon by her friends and blamed for it. Since, Kana believed having such trifling relationships would only lead to more hardships and broken hearts; thus she does not care or seek the friendships of any of her class. Much less a boyfriend.

Marcus is the most popular boy of school; handsome, athletic, and smart he is sought out by all who seek to be in his company. Yet under this charming demeanor he hides his heart, even from those he had once loved.  He remains mysterious despite what rumors are widespread, be them true or false. When he is injured in a misunderstanding, he meets Kana, a girl who couldn’t be more different—yet he is drawn to her. Little is known of her, he wants learn about her; few to no people have seen any emotion she has expressed during school interaction, he wants to see what has been denied to so many; she has only been seen in uniform, he wants to look upon her no other has.

And the Earth Shall Rumble Anew

This post is a cleaned up version from a prompt where we looked at a photo before we wrote. Mine was of a bearded man, stuck in a sand pit and he was made out of stone, forever posed in a motion where he is reaching for the sky. Enjoy.

And the Earth Shall Rumble Anew

"GARRRR!!! How DARE you! How DARE you!" I bellowed with the might of a bugle sounded at war.

"You deserve it!"

His whiny voice squeaking like wet sand.

slapping like a wet tunic against my face.
His cackling carrying over and around me and back again.
It enraged me.

"Brother, my brother you have betrayed me!" I bellowed again.
